It was a strange sensation, having water come up onto her bare legs. She was used to having a tail in the water, but there wasn’t quite enough of the ocean touching her to trigger her transformation. Instead the water that did caress her naked skin was gently ebbing in and out with the tide.
“You are my Princess,” her husband whispered against her ear, gazing lovingly into her eyes. “I don’t care if you’re a mermaid,” he continued as though giving her permission to transform, something whose restrictions she knew he still did not completely comprehend, “a human, or a fish, you are my Queen. You are my everything!”
He kissed her again and then strove harder and deeper inside of her. Ariel cried out with the crash of the waves. She was unable to verbally communicate anything to him, but instead her lips found Eric’s and did the talking for her. He was much more than her husband, much more than her King. He, too, was her everything, and in it was in his arms that she finally, finally felt complete.
They didn’t have to be so near the ocean. They could be anywhere, but as long as they were together, she was whole. They were both whole, complete and at home at last in one another’s sweet embrace.
